It all dates back to December 18th, 2008. Yes, that was a while ago. During that day, students were running a talent show. During that time, all the clubs were running an activity related to theirs. The Japanese Arts Club planned to sell bookmarks for charity, wish folding (writing a wish on a piece of star paper and folding it into a fat paper star), and 'Guess the Number of Stars in a Jar', which was also for charity. Some people also cosplayed to attract further attention. However, we were placed in the back hall, with the Homework Club - away from any of the action and attention that the front hall was recieving.
Let's skip forward to March 6th now. During that day, there was a presidents council meeting. I went to reprent the school's newspaper, while Nicole went to represent both the Anti-bullying club, and the Japanese Arts Club. First, the principal apologized to the clubs in the back hall (much to the relief of Nicole and I), and then he proposes another activity day on June 4th. Nicole jumped to the occasion and called dibs on a Dance Dance Revolution Tournament. She even emailed the principal the proposal as soon as she got back home from pool (refer to the last note of mines). However, he didnt reply back, even though we gave him plenty of time to. That's when things got a bit scary.
We sent another proposal through Nicole's email. Neither the club, nor the teacher supervisor heard back from the principal, or the vice-principal in charge of organizing it. We soon realised the reaosn why the emails weren't going through though. As it turns out, her email was spelled incorrectly on the President Council email list, so all the emails she sends to the principal goes to junk mail (which he doesn't look through). I can't send any emails to him either because the email for newspaper is under my co-editor-in-chief, so the same thing would happen to me. We thought that if we sent it through our teacher supervisor, we'd get a reply. We didnt, but we did hear about a DDR tournament over the morning announcements on the second last and last week of May. We assumed they were refering to us, cause well obviously, who'd want to mess with two presidents who clearly said that they claimed this idea? We planned everything throughout the week - who's bringing the supplies, the prizes and the like. We were going to make the posters on the 29th - our meeting date, but our teacher supervisor gave us news - bad news.
As it turns out, another club was running the DDR tournament. He gave us the name of the teacher, but none of us knew who the teacher was or what club he was running. So the entire club spent a good thirty minutes finding that information, and we then realise that the alcohol awareness group coined our idea. So we're trying to find the principal to talk to him in person, but he was at a board meeting. Instead we end up telling his wife about our ordeal, because she was one of our guidance councilors anyway. xD She suggested that we email one of the Vice-Principals instead. After a lot of debating during the club, we sent an email to him with another idea (And ironically, Nicole had to 'go' again, but w/e she can't even attend the activity day due to her out-of-school program).
I get the reply early today. It turns out we CAN'T run our new activity. The vice-principal did give us an option to see him in person to make arrangements to help out another club. So we, being extremely bitter towards this whole entire thing decided to take this chance to blow up a bomb (not an ACTUAL BOMB, an EMOTIONAL bomb) in front of someone's face. Why? Even though none of this is anyone's fault, the fact that every single president, and the principal himself, knew that we wanted to be part of something went up in smoke. Right now, helping another club with their idea appears to us as an insult.
We'll see how this ends up. We're going on Monday. Wish us luck.
EDIT (JUNE 9)
While I'm waiting for my herd of sheep to dry (more on that later), I have decided to post the end result.
Turns out the admin 'forgot' to tell us or the alcohol awareness group that we were supposed to combine efforts, so we had to find the supervising teacher and help out within the next 3 days. However, none of us knew who the teacher was (obviously), so we never managed to track her down. Luckily, our supervising teacher found her and talked to her. We were to bring 2 DDR's, systems and all.
So it's the day of, and we're all walking back slowly to our school from a convention hall. After a bit of scrambling to set up, we managed to pull though, and off I went to newspaper.
I pop in near the end of the day and there's people DDRing, and a lot of other people playing mah-jong and DSing. lol
